Invincible – When Going Through a Divorce… REALLY…Invincible?!

This week has been a tough one for me. I’ve been dealing with the teenagers, grieving the loss of loved ones, and dealing with the grief that continues to come because I got divorce.

On my way in this morning, Pat Benatar’s “Invincible” started playing, and I instantly thought of the movie “The Legend of Billie Jean.” I watched that movie over and over again when I was a teenager.

The first line made me reflect on my clients and myself in 2018 when I found myself going through a divorce.

“This bloody road remains a mystery

This sudden darkness fills the air

What are we waiting for?

Won’t anybody help us?

What are we waiting for?”

It’s a brutal road divorce—a tearing apart of two people who’ve intertwined their lives, possibly even having children and a plan for the rest of their lives together. And then, out of nowhere, your spouse announces they want a divorce. WHAM!

When I heard this from my former husband, it felt like the air was sucked out of the room.

Accepting that we were actually getting divorced marked the beginning of the Bloody Road, a carnage akin to a war zone. Dreams, plans, friendships, our business, and our children—all were casualties of the divorce.

There were so many simultaneous events and decisions to make, accompanied by immense pain.

That’s why I decided to become a Certified Divorce Coach. I can guide you through this mysterious war and bloody road.

Pat Benatar goes on to sing -

“This shattered dream you cannot justify

We’re gonna scream until we’re satisfied

What are we running for?

We’ve got the right to be angry

What are we running for

When there is nowhere we can run to anymore?”

It might seem challenging to stand up for yourself right now, but I know you possess the strength and resilience within you. You have the right to feel angry about your world being shattered, and you can fight with grace, refusing to be swayed by your former spouse’s tactics. I can guide you through this process.

“We can’t afford to stay innocent

Stand up and face the enemy

It’s a do-or-die situation

We will be invincible.

And with the power of conviction

There is no sacrifice

It’s a do-or-die situation

We will be INVINCIBLE”

In Divorce, you may not get everything you desire, BUT… you can reclaim your authentic self and the person you were truly meant to be.

There is a light at the end of the tunnel, and it is not a train!
